Odessa

Travis L. Jarrett, Jr., age 58, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Medical Center. Travis was born May 5, 1964, in Odessa, Texas, to Travis, Sr. and Brenda Jarrett. He was a 1982 graduate of Permian High School

One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters and grandson. Another passion was his love of cooking, always experimenting on new dishes he saw on Food Network. He loved sharing his recipes with his family, although many were too spicy to their taste.

He was an accomplished inspector, earning many professional certifications from the American Welding Society, the American Petroleum Institute, the American Society of Nondestructive Testing, and the State of Texas Industrial Radiography Certification. His accomplishments in specialized education and training were outstanding. He was a part of the team that implemented the Mechanical Integrity Program and Software throughout the United States. He was one of the top API inspectors in the United States that had reached this level of certification.

His earliest years of employment as a teenager began at Carbery Fabrications, a company owned by his grandfather, Frank Carbery.  There he learned the value of a good work ethic under the stern hand of his grandfather. After attending Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, he returned to Carbery Fabrication Company for the next seven years as foreman. Over his careen in the oil industry, he was employed by X-CEL Inspection Services, Odessa, as a Fixed Equipment Inspector, by Flint Hills Resources (previously Huntsman and Rexene), Odessa, as Chief Inspector/Inspection Supervisor, Moody In-Service Inspection, Odessa, as Account Manager/Project Manager, Flint Hills Resources, Odessa, as Fixed Equipment Capabilities Leader—Corporate Cross Site Role, and prior to his retirement, Team Industries of Odessa, Texas, as an Account Manager. Travis was well loved and respected as one of the leaders in his field.

Travis is survived by mother and stepfather, Tom and Brenda Reed of Odessa, Tx; daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Taylor Reyes of Abilene, Tx; daughter, Machalie Jarrett of Odessa, Tx; brother, Kevin Jarrett of Odessa, Tx; grandchildren, Abbie, Braylea, and Rylee Reyes of Abilene, Tx, Preston Curtis of Odessa, Tx; nephew, Kevin Jarrett, Jr.; niece, Shawna Jarrett, and a host of family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Travis Jarrett, Sr.; the mother of his children, Teresa Hobbs; his grandparents, Frank and Louise Carbery of Odessa, Tx; and his uncle, Pete Carbery of Odessa, Tx.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, June 29, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa, Tx.
