Obituary

Teri Lynn Simpkins Whitaker, 65, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, in Odessa, TX, with her loving husband was by her side.

Viewing will be held Monday, August 8, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Shane Branecky of Community Bible Church, officiating. All family and friends are welcome to attend. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. 

Teri was born in Odessa, Texas, to Martha and Roy Simpkins on July 22, 1957. She went to Odessa High School. She married Ricky Whitaker on April 1, 1978.

One of Teri’s favorite hobbies was shopping estate sales and garage sales. She had the ability to find the best bargains! When she wasn’t bargain hunting, she was on the golf course, traveling or spending time with family. Teri was the backbone of the family and always taking care of everyone else. She was the very best grandma to her 4 grandkids. She absolutely loved being Grandma.

Teri is preceded in death by Roy Simpkins and Randy Simpkins.

Teri is survived by her spouse, Ricky Whitaker; sons, Jeromey Whitaker and Sheri, Justin Whitaker and Meredith; mother, Martha Simpkins; brother, Kevin Simpkins and Theresa; nieces, Hailey and Austin Reynolds, and Lindsey; and 4 grandchildren, Talyn, Kyler, Camdyn & Logan.
