Roy Hunt

Roy Darrel Hunt, age 72, of Odessa, Texas, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at Crossroads Fellowship Church at 1PM on Thursday, December 30, 2021, with the Reverend Griffin Jones officiating. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Roy was born in Henderson, Texas to Glen T. Hunt and Ouida David Henry, on March 9, 1949. He attended school in Logansport, Louisiana. Roy participated and excelled in football, basketball, and boxing. He held the school record for points after touchdown kicked in a season that stood for many years. As a junior Roy was bestowed the honor of representing LHS at Louisiana Boys State. Roy graduated from The University of Louisiana- Monroe receiving a BA degree in Business Management.

Roy married the love of his life, Susan Sevier on July 6, 1974, in Tallulah, Louisiana.

He worked in the automobile industry for over 50 years, representing Oldsmobile, Cadillac, and BMW of the Permian Basin. BMW of North America’s Center of Excellence acknowledged Roy many times for his Customer Service Excellence. These awards took Roy and Susan to countries around the world. He was a member of the Odessa County Club where he served as a past board member, and the Odessa YMCA where he also served as a board member.  He was a dedicated volunteer for Odessa Meals on Wheels and was involved with Wounded Warriors.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Glen T. Hunt and Ouida Henry; stepmother, Teke Hunt; stepfather, J.W. Henry; sister, Jay Dawn Wyatt; and brother, James Wesley Hunt.

He is survived by his wife Susan; daughter, Sloane Crume; grandchildren, Brandon, and Gracelyn; his sisters, Cherry McDermid, Sue Hunt, and Tomibeth Brooks, her husband Gary; and sister-in-law, Mary Hunt.

Roy was very special and abundantly blessed with so many friends that each person will know who an honorary pallbearer is.
