Raymond Mcafee

Raymond Earl (Pete) McAfee, 93, of Odessa, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021, at his home in Odessa surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 P.M., Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M., Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Neil Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Raymond was born near the small town of Davilla, Texas, in Milam County to Robert A. McAfee and Fannie Ellen Hitch on October 15, 1927. He attended school in Andrews, Texas. He married Joyce Loraine McElroy on February 14, 1948, in Antioch, California.

He joined the U.S. Navy after WW2 and proudly served for two years before returning to West Texas where he worked for Getty Oil Company for 35 years. He was a member of Arc of the United States and an active volunteer for Special Olympics. After retiring from Getty, he started a small engine/lawn mower shop and continued to serve customers as long as his health would allow.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, his wife Joyce McAfee, and his son Gary McAfee.

He is survived by his daughter, Zena McAfee Wood and husband Robert Wood, his son James Robert McAfee and wife Allie, one brother Jessie McAfee and one sister Lola Faye Johnson as well as five grandchildren: Tim Boyer and wife Leigh, Michael Boyer, and wife Karina, Peter McAfee and wife Joy, Daniel McAfee and wife Tara, Chad McAfee and 9 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tim Boyer, Peter McAfee, Daniel McAfee, and Chad McAfee and great-nephews Derek Rotan and Matt Swierc.

Memorials may be given to Special Olympics, Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
