Pauline Vandyke

May 5, 1960 — November 17, 2022

Odessa

Pauline Jean VanDyke known to many as Jeannie, was born May 5, 1960, and on Thursday, November 17, 2022, went to join her husband, Ron VanDyke and her parents Alvis and Betty Pierce in heaven. She was 62 years old.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 21, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with burial to follow at 3:00 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pastor Lyndell Lee of Tanglewood Baptist Church will officiate.

Pauline (Jeannie) was born in Odessa, Texas, to Alvis and Betty Pierce, both preceded her in death. In October of 1980 Pauline married Ron VanDyke of Odessa and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was a retired home care attendant and had worked in that field for 20 years. She was involved in the Women’s Auxiliary at the VFW Post 4372. Pauline often volunteered at the VFW Flea Market and was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church.

Pauline was a unique, loving person.  She never met a person she did not like and would stop to visit with anyone. She just loved to help others no matter what they needed; a ride, a hug, or just someone to listen.  Pauline’s favorite pastime was Bingo at the VFW.  She loved her cat, Dumpster.

Her best friend and confidant was Laura Carpenter, who was there to help Pauline in whatever she needed for the last 20 years and took care of her better than anyone could. Pauline had other special friends that she wanted to recognize:  Mary, her Bingo buddy; Dorothy from the VFW and Billy Kennedy. Each one of you touched her heart and made her world brighter. She loved you all.

Pauline is survived by her daughter, Judith Pierce, sisters Gail Meadows and Rose Sprouse, brothers James Pierce, Floyd Pierce and Lloyd Pierce. She is survived by her stepchildren Kittie Ellis, Tonie VanDyke and Terry White and 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Jeanie was survived by numerous friends who she cared about and cared for her.

Pallbearers will be Billy Sprouse, Vernon Meadows, Lloyd Pierce, James Pierce, Allen Carpenter and Billy Kennedy.

The Family of Pauline Jean (Jeannie) VanDyke would like to give a special thanks to Texas Tech University Hospital Neuro ICU nurses, doctors and staff for taking such special care of Pauline.  Their compassion and kindness will always be remembered.

Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. To send condolences to the family, please go sign her guestbook at www.sunsetodessa.com.
