Melissa Williamson

Melissa Sue Williamson of Midland, TX, beloved wife, mother, and “geega” was called to her eternal resting place on February 6, 2021.

Melissa entered this world on November 11, 1963 in Abilene, TX to JR and Roylynn Shirley. She attended school in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School in 1983. Melissa worked as a hair stylist for many years after graduation.

Melissa met her future husband, Danny in Odessa, TX. They were married on August 1, 1987 and were married for 33 ½ years. They later moved to Midland, TX.

To those who knew her, words such as selfless, kind, caring, loving, giving, beautiful, gentle are just some of the words used to describe the kind of person she was. She was always putting others first. She was a very precious gift from God.

Melissa did enjoy different adventures with her husband. She would do things such as fly in a bi-plane, she did take some cruises, has been in a hot air balloon, did zipline, and snow skiing, and on one occasion planned an opportunity for Danny to drive a NASCAR, although she did not ride with him.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Odessa, TX. She could be counted on to work in the nursery when needed and loved the children. She was active in the church connect groups. In years past she had spoken on mental illness and she loved to read.

Melissa’s beautiful life will be remembered by those she leaves behind, her loving husband, Danny Williamson of Midland, TX; son Curtis Williamson of Midland, TX; daughter Kristin and husband Josh Burrow of Pensacola, Fla; father, JR and wife Dean of Abilene, TX; mother Roylynn Shirley of Ballinger, TX; brother, Russel Shirley and wife Rene of Kentucky; sister Melinda Martin and husband David of Arkansas; three grandsons; Sawyer, Liam, and Eli and one granddaughter; Brooklyn, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 12, 2021 at First Assembly of God Church in Odessa with Reverend Todd Starnes officiating.
