We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home
Our dear mother, Martha Weatherby, perfect Grammy, and dear friend passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022, after a short illness. She was born August 29, 1937, in Fairfield, Iowa. Our father always called her a 'Yankee' because of that, but once she moved to Texas when she was 10, she forever became a Texan. She loved Odessa and has lived here for 62 years.
She married Doyle Weatherby in Ft. Worth, Texas, in 1956, and was happily married for 60 years. She had two children, Kay Kay (Weatherby) Zimmerman and Chas Weatherby.
She had a career in banking for 20 years, followed by stay-at-home mom, bread baker, excellent cook, seamstress, crafter, comforter, soother of hurts-inside and out, Grammy, friend to many, church coordinator and maker of Doyle's meals to the end. She was involved in Christian Women's Club for over 10 years as a chair and professional speaker. Christian Women's Retreat in the Guadalupe Mountains was a favorite of hers for over 40 years. She was the church coordinator at Antioch Christian Church for 20+ years. Her faith knew no bounds.
She is preceded in death by her love, Doyle Weatherby, and her parents, along with several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by, daughter, Kay Kay Zimmerman and husband Roger of Hamilton, Texas; son Chas Weatherby and wife Marcy, of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Noah Zimmerman and wife Penney of Flower Mound, Texas, Justin Zimmerman and wife Lindsay, of Marble Falls, Texas, Casey Guerrero and husband Johnny, of Odessa, Texas, Kyle Weatherby and wife Stephanie of
McKinney, Texas; great-grandchildren, Brenden Zimmerman of Austin, Texas, Luke and Lane Zimmerman of Flower Mound, Texas, Laney & Jett Guerrero of Odessa, Texas, and Duke and Lucy Weatherby of McKinney, Texas. She is also survived by three brothers, nieces, nephews and friends too many to measure.
She wanted to go be with Jesus and Doyle and we are certain they are rejoicing in welcoming her to heaven. Godspeed, Mom!
Services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2022, 10:00 AM, at Antioch Christian Church in Odessa at 4040 Maple Avenue. A visitation will be held at the church fellowship hall afterwards, followed by gravesite burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 2:00 PM, 6801 Highway 80 in Odessa, Texas.
