Maggie Johnson

Maggie Madeline Johnson, beloved mama, grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma went to heaven on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the age of 94. She was born December 24,1927, to Ollie Mae Byford and George W. Byford in Cement, Oklahoma.

She married James Victor Johnson on September 16, 1958. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, her parents, Ollie Mae Byford and George W. Byford; two sons, Eddie Sant and Billy Leon Johnson; two grandsons, Christopher Todd Holbrook and Thomas Johnson; 4 sisters and 7 brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Jarrgin of Bullard, Tx, Vickie Carter and Husband Larry Carter of Odessa, Tx, Linda Brudos and Husband Don Burdos of Odessa, Tx; one daughter-in-law, Theresa Sant of Pollock, Tx; two sons, Jimmy Johnson of Odessa, Tx and Wayne Sant of Tulsa, OK. As well as, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. One sister, Jayness Fulgham of Lubbock, Tx; and one sister-in-law, Mary Byford of Odessa, Tx.

She was employed by Wal-Mart for 22 years. Most of her years at Wal-Mart were spent serving people that came to the snack bar. When Wal-Mart closed the snack bar, she continued working for them as a demo lady for the deli department and passing out food samples to Wal-Mart customers.

Maggie enjoyed crocheting stuffed animals and baby doll clothes for her grandchildren. She never went a day without reading her newspaper. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and The Golden Girls and she was always humming Christian songs or listening to and singing along with Alan Jackson’s Christian music. Maggie would bake for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends their favorite cake for their birthday. She loved to cook turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She shared a special way of preparing the turkey with her grandsons. She loved watching the golfer, Tiger Woods and watching baseball. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always loving and kind to everyone. No matter what trial or tribulation was in her life, she never complained. Maggie always found the good in everyone and everything. She was the most caring, kindest, sweetest lady, you could ever know. She blessed the lives of everyone that knew her. She will truly be missed.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Wade Fisher, James Carter, Troy Carter, Nick Holbrook, Chris Wilkerson, and great-grandson, Docker Carter. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Fulgham, B.J. Holbrook, and Jake Sant.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a memorial in Maggie Madeline Johnson’s name to Texas Alzheimer’s Research and Care.
