Family Service Counselor ~ Sunset Employee for 22 years

Lynette Jo Tucker-Baeza, of Odessa, Tx, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, in Lubbock, Tx.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Friday, December 2, 2022. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 3, 2022, with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating, and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. All services will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Lynette was born in Tipton, Indiana, to Gene and Margie Henry on September 14, 1956. She spent her childhood in Tipton, Indiana and moved to Texas as a young adult, which has been her home ever since.

She started her working career, for approximately 16 years, at Furr’s Supermarket. She began as a cashier and worked her way up to store director. In 2001, she began as a Family Service Counselor for Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, where she found her true calling helping people for a dedicated 22 years. She has always had an incredible work ethic and dedication to her job, serving countless families alongside her “work family,” who she valued very much. She truly excelled in this role and accumulated numerous accolades and awards throughout the years.

She had a passion for Pepsi, freezing water bottles, club crackers, all things Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the beach, and architecture. We can’t forget her undying love for Chuck Norris. Spoiling her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids with special gifts also gave her such joy. She was an excellent cook, and some of her kids’ favorites include her chicken fried steak, homemade pizza, and sloppy joe. Her undeniable sweet tooth could get her in trouble. Lynette was unapologetically herself and left an impact on those she met. She will be missed very much.

Lynette is preceded in death by her husband, Faustino Baeza; her ex-husband, Toby Tucker; her parents, Raymond Eugene and Margie Henry; and her two brothers, Raymond William “Bill” and Jeffrey Allan.

Lynette is survived by her children, Jo (Robert) Mathis, Jerry (Cathy) Birden, Jason (Kathryn) Tucker, and Troy Tucker; her siblings, Suzette (Ronnie) Bills, Annette (Don) Workman, Juliette (Gary) Coston, and Barry (Anita) Henry; her grandchildren, Chad (Bianca) Birden, Lydia Mathis, Nathan (Kara) Mathis, Kamryn Birden, Jacob Birden, and Lucy Tucker; her great-grandchildren, Jackson Birden, Rowen Birden, Bryson Cochran, and Marleigh Mathis. She was also blessed to be surrounded with love by the Baeza family, Faustino (America) Baeza Sr., Mario (Elizabeth) Baeza, Faustino (Joshua) Meras III, Stephanie (Dominiqu) Baeza, and Jesse Baeza.

Pallbearers will be Mario Baeza, Dudley Chandler, Ric Gonzales, Alex Gomez, and The Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home Staff. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Birden, Jason Tucker, Robert Mathis, Chad Birden, Nathan Mathis, and Jacob Birden.

The family of Lynette wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Odessa Regional Medical Center and University Medical Center in Lubbock. They also wish to express their immense gratitude to all the staff at Sunset Memorial for being such a positive presence in Mom’s life and taking exceptional care of her after her passing.
