Linda Simmons

May 23, 1969 — April 30, 2021

Odessa

Linda Henderson Simmons, 51, undoubtedly went to heaven on angel wings Friday, April 30, 2021 at her home in Odessa while surrounded by loved ones. Linda’s body succumbed to colon cancer, but her beloved spirit remained unwavering despite the disease.

Linda, also fondly known as ‘Lou Lou’, was born May 23, 1969 in Midland, Texas. She was raised in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School as a devoted Bronco fan. She attended the Odessa College Cosmetology program where she received her license as a nail technician. She was blessed with 2 sons, Leslie and Landon Martin. She and the love of her life, Robby, married October 24, 2015. Robby’s devotion to Linda was extraordinary.

Linda worked as a nail tech for 28 years at Lincoln Towers and more recently the Proteus Hair Salon. She was a reliable hard worker who had many of the same clients for over 20 years. Linda’s sweet, supportive and spunky personality turned many clients into close friends.

Linda was a larger-than-life personality who loved boldly. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend. She did not hide the fact, however, that her grandchildren had an extra special place in her heart. She adored each and every one of them. She found humor in the younger ones calling her Woo Woo until they could say Lou Lou.

Linda was stylish and creative, often designing and making personalized clothing or items for those she loved. She was fun loving and looked forward to outings and camping with her family. She enjoyed a variety of good music from Classic Rock to Texas Country. Linda loved to drive her Camaro but remained a country girl at heart. She loved animals, especially dogs.

Linda was admittedly sassy at times but had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. There is no denying her joyful soul. To family and friends Linda was authentic. She was a confidant who was compassionate and steadfast in her honesty. Her heart of gold was even more apparent when she was around a child whom she could love unconditionally in a moment.

51 years could be considered a relatively short life, but Linda was able to make infinite impacts in the lives of those she knew and loved. The example she set, and effects of her selfless love will never be forgotten by those of us blessed to know her.

She is preceded in death by J.D. Youngblood, Mack Henderson, Arveal Clyde ‘Bud’ Bush, and grandparents John and Opal Youngblood and Claude and Minnie Tredaway.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Frances Bush of Odessa; her husband, Robby; her children, Landon (Amy) Martin of Odessa, Leslie Martin of Odessa, Cody (Sofia) Simmons of Midland, Heather Dawn Simmons of Odessa, Logan (Sara) Simmons of Lampasas, TX, Brooklyn (Adam) Charanza of Willis, TX, Taylor (Quinten) Carter of Odessa; 3 sisters, Angela (Roger) Harrison of Pecos, TX, Teena Youngblood of Odessa, Sharlene Weaver of Odessa, 1 brother, John (Theresa) Youngblood of Conroe, TX; 8 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, countless friends and her 3 dogs, Minnie, Max and Charlie.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Linda’s life at 10am Friday May 7th at West Texas Cowboy Church, 12144 TX-158, Gardendale TX; Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 6801 E. I-20BL, Odessa, TX. The family will receive friends on Thursday May 6th from 5-8pm at the Sunset Funeral Home.
