Johnnie Bess Anderson left her home here on Earth, Thursday, December 31, 2021.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Terry Pugh officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Johnnie was born in Andrews, Texas to C.H. (Heavy) and Bernice Ward; she was the second of four girls.  She attended school in Andrews, and in 1970 she attended Texas Bible College.  Johnnie married the love of her life, Danny “Dan” Paul Anderson on May 15, 1954, in Lovington, New Mexico.  Johnnie and Dan didn’t have any children of their own but were “Nana” and “Papa” to so many nieces and nephews.

They were instrumental in leading so many to Jesus through their home bible studies and prayer groups.

Johnnie is preceded in death by her parents, Heavy and Bernice Ward, and sisters, Jean Barton, and Pat Clay.

Johnnie is survived by her husband of 68 years, Dan Anderson; sister, Mary Taylor; nine nieces and nephews; and sixteen great-nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Alfonso Gonzales and staff, and Star Hospice staff for their exceptional care.
