Jackie Wicks

Jackie Wicks, 60, of Odessa, passed away on June 26th, 2021 in Granbury, Tx.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, June 30th, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, July 1st, at Stonegate Odessa, with Dr. Chet Taylor officiating.

Jackie was born in Seminole, TX to Betty Johnson and James Lawrence Wicks on October 22, 1960, along with his twin sister, Jeanie. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1979.

Jackie married Fonda in 1985 after courting her with flowers every birthday for 4 years. He worked in the oilfield for over 40 years in many different positions, but his latest was as a superintendent with ConocoPhillips.

Jackie and Fonda have two daughters, Amber Carpenter, married to James, and Morgan Wicks, and 7 grandchildren, Brylii, Kynzie, Patrick, Kynlii, Bladyn, Kyson, and Bolton. He is also survived by his mother, Betty Pitts, 2 brothers, Garry Wicks and Terry Wicks, and twin sister, Jeanie Taylor. Plus, dozens of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence, and brother, Larry Wicks.

He was very involved with CBT Charities, Wounded Warriors and volunteered yearly with their fishing tournament.

Pallbearers will be James Carpenter, Randy Randolph, Bill Sherrill, Ronnie Bohannon, Derrick Heath, and Owen Galindo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Kyson Strong. Kyson was one of Jackie’s grandsons and has been diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis, a rare disease that causes tumors to grow in the brain and other vital organs. Jackie helped to support his grandson’s education at a school designed to educate students like Kyson. These donations will help to pay for his tuition.
