Geonne Franklin

Sherry Geonne Vincent Franklin, age 71, of Temple, Texas passed away on February 19, 2021 in Ft. Worth, Texas. She passed away peacefully in hospice with Chris never leaving her side.

Memorial Services and interment will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 1:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.

Geonne was born in Wood Hospital in Odessa, Texas to Jack and Elizabeth Vincent on March 17, 1949.  She graduated from Odessa High School in 1967.  Geonne then spent 2 years at Court Reporting School in Abilene to prepare for a career as a legal secretary.  Her next several years were spent in Lubbock as a court reporter.  Her career changed for a couple years which she spent as a golf pro in Southwestern University in Georgetown. Her legal secretary/assistant career spanned about 35 years.  She worked for Royal Caswell, Graham Brothers and Associates and finished her workdays at Shafer, Davis, O’Leary, and Stoker Law Firm.

She married Roy L. Franklin, Jr on December 13,1979 in Odessa, he preceded her in death in 2010.  Also preceding her in death were her mother, father, and brother Phillip Vincent. There were many aunts, uncles and cousins also passed away.

Survivors include her spouse, Chris Powell. Geonne is also survived by her sister-in-law, Brenda Vincent; and brothers, David and wife Vicki, Joe and wife Carol, Bynum and wife Joni, all of Odessa.  There are numerous nieces, nephews, stepchildren, and step-grandchildren.  There are also three important people in her life that the family wishes to thank who made her life special, Becky Franklin, Shanna Vincent Beach and Carol Vincent.

Geonne was a loving caregiver to numerous members of her family. She loved to play golf.  Her newest obsession was genealogy. She could spend hours on the computer putting her family history in order. Geonne and Chris loved to travel and occasionally stop over at a casino.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Baylor, Scott, and White All Saints Hospital in Ft. Worth. She had wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers on the Liver and Kidney Transplant floor.
