E.D. “Jack” Gardner, age 88, of Odessa, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 2, 2021.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jackie Brem of Second Baptist Church officiating.

Jack Gardner was born in Breckenridge, Texas to Elva David and Eunice Gardner on November 8, 1932.  When he was eight years old, he and his family moved to Odessa.  He graduated from Odessa High School in 1952, then enrolled at Odessa College.  He left college in October 1953, when he was drafted into the Army.  He trained and was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas where he calibrated field artillery and anti-aircraft weapons.  After serving for two years, Jack was honorably discharged from the Army in October of 1955.  He married the love of his life, Sally, on May 31, 1958 in Odessa.  They were married for 62 years and were blessed with three boys.  Jack worked for the United States Postal Service, beginning in 1962 until his retirement in 1996.  After retirement, Jack enjoyed traveling the country with Sally and woodworking in his shop.  He was an active member of Second Baptist Church and enjoyed visiting with everyone he met.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Leta Beth Vickers; and son, John Scott Gardner.

Jack is survived by his wife, Sally; sons, David Gardner and wife Larissa, and Jack Gardner and wife Rene; grandchildren, Brian Gardner and wife Amanda, Amy Dionne and husband Dan, and Tyler Gardner; and great granddaughter, Ellie Gardner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jack’s name to Second Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
