Deloris "Dee" Pool-Weinberger

March 19, 1931 — October 1, 2021

Dallas

Deloris or "Dee", as she was often called, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Dallas of natural causes.

As a native of West Texas, it's not surprising that Deloris had a determination to her spirit that was unmatched.  She was formidable when she made up her mind when deciding the next direction she was going to head.

With decades of successful antique and retail businesses, her customers appreciated her impeccable sense of style and commitment to quality. As one of the first female business owners in Salt Lake City, her beloved store, "Dee's Doll and Bear Cottage" showcased inventory from around the world and became the most popular store in the landmark Trolley Square Mall.  Deloris was the top doll dealer in the Southwest in the 1990's and hosted many doll artists in her store.

Her great appreciation for Fine Art and Antiques began in the 1960's when she moved from Odessa to Dallas. She had a true passion for collecting. Even today she operates several spaces in both Forestwood and Cottonwood Antique Malls in the Dallas area and was involved daily with both locations. She had a vast knowledge of rare maps, prints, glassware, and fine china. Dee was one of the lucky ones who embodied an amazing memory right up to the end of her life. She was not only beautiful, but she also had grace with a keen wit to compliment her engaging personality.  We will all miss seeing her wearing her signature look of brightly colored jackets and her statement necklaces.

Even more noteworthy than the business side of Deloris was her love of family. She was so fortunate to experience a tight family bond in Odessa, visiting with her parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews, often on a daily basis. Her parents' home was the hub of many family gatherings and wonderful memories.

She was a loving mother and a doting grandmother. "Grandma Dee" was very involved in all her grandchildren's lives. She was always available for them with emotional and financial support given with love and kindness.

Preceded in death by husband Robert Weinberger DVM, son David L. Gibson and daughter Mary Ann Murphy Kilpatrick.

Survived by daughter Alice "Susie" Murphy Brown and son Ralph Edwin Murphy. Grandchildren: Kara Kilpatrick Steele (Patrick), Alexandra Brown Velasco (Alonso), Elizabeth Anne Brown, Mitchell Joseph Brown (Lindsey), Charlotte Brown and Ian Brown. Great grandchildren: Alonso Velasco IV, Mateo Velasco, and Parker Rose Brown.
