Odessa

Deborah Diane Johnson passed away on Tuesday October 12, 2021 in the comfort of her home in Odessa, Texas.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 16, at 3:00 PM at 3010 San Martin Court, Odessa, Texas.

It was Deborah’s wishes to be cremated and for her ashes to be spread into the ocean.  The beach was one of Deborah’s most enjoyed places to be.

Deborah was born in Odessa, Texas to Floyd Thomas Watson and Vivian Faye Schoolcraft on September 11, 1956.  She graduated from Altus High School and later received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Library Science; and was a librarian and teacher for several years.

Throughout Deborah’s life, she volunteered for many organizations in her community to include church, Junior League, and Wagner Noel Performing Art Center.  She was also a member of the Crossroads Church.

Deborah was an avid foodie.  She also loved reading, traveling, playing with her grandchildren, sewing, crafting, and her little yorkie Tia.

Deborah is preceded in death by her father Floyd Thomas Watson.

She was survived by partner Sheldon Kye Johnson, daughter Angela Kristine Jones and husband Justin Lee Jones, daughter Catrina Alyse Phillips and husband Phillip Jay Phillips, mother Vivian Faye Schoolcraft, sisters Anita Faye Augustadt and Cheryl Louise Preston, and grandchildren Briggs Lane Pirate Jones, Urban Gage Brax Jones, Brooklyn Giselle Jones, Marleigh Jay Phillips, Stetson James Phillips.

“There’s a star for us all.”
Deborah had a very spiritual experience while traveling to the Bahamas.  While there, the journey from life on Earth to afterlife became clear to her….when we pass, the light that we see is our star coming to get us and take us to our afterlife.  When you look at the sky, you’ll see Deborah’s star, ever-shining so bright, just like she did while on Earth.
