David Omachel

David Lawrence Omachel, 67, of Odessa, TX, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 in Odessa.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2020, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Erik Stadler officiating.

Arrangements are made by Sunset Funeral Home.

David was born in Odessa, TX, to Nick and Frances Omachel on April 23, 1952. He attended Odessa schools and graduated from OHS in 1970.  He married Sharon Hammond on September 30, 1978, in Odessa, TX, at Redeemer Lutheran church. He attended Odessa College.

David worked many different jobs, but he spent most of his adult life working in the oilfield. His most recent job was outside sales for Permian Rod Inc.

He had been involved in the Odessa Jaycees and the Permian Basin Fair Board. He loved watching NASCAR and following several drivers, especially Jeff Gordon.

He was also active at Redeemer Lutheran church in various capacities. He was Sunday school superintendent for a number of years and youth counselor.

David's proudest achievements were participating in the various activities with his children. He helped with the band, choir, and tennis activities while the children were in school.

David is preceded in death by his father, Nick Omachel.

David is survived by his wife, Sharon, daughters Brenda Terry (Chris), Sandy Steen (Mason), and Jackie Vestal (Freddy), son Dylan Omachel all of Odessa; Son Kevin Omachel (Brooke) of Spring, TX. He is also survived by his mother Frances Omachel and sisters Maryanne Hergert (Craig), of Katy, TX, Rosemarie Miller of Hawkins, TX, Barbara Nowell, of Lawrenceville, VA, and Carrie Briley, of Odessa, TX.  David is also survived by 9 almost 10 grandchildren. Brooklyn Terry, Hayden Terry, Kason Steen, McKinley Vestal, Grayson Vestal, Kyle Omachel, Addy Ramos, Mason Omachel, Leighton Omachel.  Hunter Vestal (on the way).  He is also survived by Aunts, Uncles, numerous cousins, and great nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to The National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org, or Redeemer Lutheran Church, 824 E.18th street Odessa, Tx. 79761.
