Bruce Seawright

Bruce Irvin Seawright known as (“The Driller”) went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the age of 66, after a hard battle with COPD, in Odessa, Tx.

Bruce was born on May 5, 1956, to Royce Claude and Dorothy “Dot” Mae Seawright in Odessa, Tx. Bruce found the Lord at a young age, after spending time with his neighbors Cecil and Opal Cooper. Whom soon became like a second family to him.

Bruce graduated from Odessa High School 1974. During high school he worked at the Shrimp Boat Restaurant, where he met his future mother-in-law by purchasing jewelry, for his own mother, whom he loved dearly. After graduating high school, he started what would end up being his lifelong career in the oil field. He spent many years with Tom Brown followed by Roper Energy and Timber Sharp Drilling, Bruce worked on one of the largest rigs in west Texas at the time #55, his pride and joy.

Bruce married Vickie Seawright in Crane, Tx, and together they had three daughters. He was someone you could rely on. He was there for any emergency anyone had, whether that be friend, family or someone he had just met. Bruce was the glue that held a lot of things together. He was a great man and enjoyed working on cars. While he was able, he loved playing with his grandchildren. Later he developed a love for his cats.

Bruce is preceded in death by his mother and father, Royce and Dorothy Seawright; two brothers, Sidney Seawright and Max Seawright; and a granddaughter Destiney Parker.

He is survived by three daughters, Shane and Tammy Parker, Amanda Seawright, Sterling and Kristen Cowan all of Odessa, Texas; two brothers, Royce and Kay Seawright of Brady, Texas, Doug and spouse Chris Seawright of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Zachary Parker, Christopher Parker, Sterling Cowan Jr., and Makaylee Cowan of Odessa, Texas, Seth Parker of Sweetwater, Texas, and Cameron Parker of Junction, Texas; niece, Mesha and Chris Randolph of Odessa, Texas; And many lifelong friends some may even call him dad…

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, August  3, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Mike Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. All arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
