Billy Winkler

Billy Ferrell Winkler, 93, of Odessa, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in Odessa.

He was a loving wonderful son, brother, husband, dad, uncle, grandpa, and great grandpa.  Billy retired from Haliburton after 33 years.  He also worked as a crossing guard for the Ector County School District (a job he dearly loved).

Billy loved holding all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He loved playing dominos with his brothers when they would get together.  In his later years, he enjoyed beating his children at dominos.

One of his favorite things to do was eat breakfast at Mama’s Kitchen nearly every morning.  He enjoyed all the people there and how they took care of him.  His waitress, Casey, would spoil him by opening all his jellies so he didn’t have to.

Billy was welcomed into heaven by his beautiful wife of 52 years, Lenora; his dad and mom, Frank, and Zora Winkler; also welcoming him was his 3 sisters and 7 brothers.

He is survived by his son, David and wife Donna Winkler of Mernard, Texas; and daughter, Brenda and husband Cliff Martin, and son Rowdy Winkler all of Odessa.  He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

For the last 3 & ½ years he was blessed to have the best caregiver, Sam.  She spoiled him and took exceptional care of him.  We, as his kids, did not have to worry about him when Sam was there.  She was a blessing to us all.

The family would like to thank Medical Center Hospital for their great care, Madison Medical Resort for their care and great compassion; the people there were truly a blessing.  We thank all his physicians and other caregivers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 17, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Aubrey Jones officiating, assisted by Jeff Cleere.
