He is preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, wife, Janilyn "Hopie" Hancock, his sister's, Corley Peterson, Adele Farley, Genelle Shawn, and his brother, Wallace Hancock.

He is survived by his daughters, Tami Benavidez and husband Scott of Odessa, TX, and, April Collendrina and husband Craig of Canton, TX; sister, Kim Anderson of Big Spring, TX; 5 grandsons, Devon Benavidez and wife Amy of Canyon TX, Kerry Benavidez and wife Valerie of Odessa, TX, Sawyer Benavidez and wife Kimberly of Odessa, TX, Spencer Benavidez and wife Sandra of Canyon, TX, Patrik Stephenson of Wichita, KS; 4 great grandsons, 6 great granddaughters; and spouse Susan Hancock.

Bennie served in the National Guard from 1965 - 1971.

Bennie was an avid reader and was a frequent patron of the Ector County Library. He was a member of Circle J Cowboy Church where he spent many years worshiping and singing. He was a heavy equipment mechanic before he put down those tools for a different set of tools and spent the rest of his career as a carpenter, remodeling homes, building furniture and other beautiful works of art. It is very likely everyone in the city of Odessa has a wooden bowl or trinket built by him. He was a smart, brave, intelligent person who loved fiercely.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, 10:00 am, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Bennie was not a frivolous person, but believed in supporting charitable organizations, therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider a donation to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research.
