Artie Jarrett

September 19, 1930 — December 31, 2020

Midland

Artie Lee Jarrett, 90, of Odessa, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on December 31, 2020, in Midland, Texas.

Artie Lee Jarrett was born in O’Donnell, Texas to Lenna and Ervin Sumrow on September 19, 1930.  She married the love of her life, David Jarrett, on July 6, 1946.  After being married, they lived in Lamesa, Texas before moving to Odessa, Texas.  She worked at both the Sears Service Center and Claire’s Air Conditioning.  She continued working at Claire’s until the age of 83.  Everyone that knew Artie, knew her as “Nanny”, and that she loved and served the Lord with all her might.  Nanny never met a stranger, and she always had an extra place at the table for anyone that came in.  Nanny always insisted that she could not sing, but while Dave was in the living room strumming his guitar and singing with their three daughters, Artie was in the kitchen, singing softly, while preparing meals.

She loved petting and combing her dog, “Foxy”, having family gatherings, and going to church.  She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play all types of sports, like football, baseball, volleyball and soccer.  She even went to a bull riding or two, being wheeled into the arena on a golf cart to watch her favorite bull rider.  Most of all, Nanny loved her family and friends like no one could imagine.

Artie is preceded in death by her husband, Dave Jarrett; daughters, Carolyn Jarrett McCorcle, Sandra Jarrett Murry; and grandson, Ricky Dean McCorcle.

Artie is survived by her daughter, Terrie and husband Kevin Conklin of Midland, Texas; sons-in-law, Garry Murry of Odessa, Texas and Harley McCorcle of Gonzales, Texas; six grandchildren, Bryan and wife Amy Murry, Mistie Conklin, Kevin and wife Kristy Conklin, Tifinie and husband Brandon Horn, all of Midland, Texas, Tonya and husband Ty Coke, and Scott and wife Rhonda Pyeatt of Odessa, Texas; as well as twelve great grandchildren, Breia, Zack, Gunner, Jarrett, Jaelynn, Klayton, Kensie, Bryson, Brock, Kayleah, Britton, Lyndi, all of Midland, Texas and Blakely and Landry of Odessa, Texas; plus two great grandchildren, Sterling and Madden.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Reverend Ty Coke officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be great grandsons: Gunner Conklin, Jarrett Conklin, Klayton Conklin, Bryson Murry, Brock Murry and Britton Murry.

Special persons Artie considered family along with hundreds more, Brenda and Tom Reed, Connie Humphreys (deceased), along with her children, Bethany, Jeremy, Heather and Austin, all of Odessa, Texas.
