Yvonne Collins died January 18, 2021 in Odessa at age 89 after a brief illness.
Yvonne was born in Hale Center, TX on June 11, 1931 to Velma and Sam Hallmark. She spent her early years living on their farm. As a girl, she used to say that she was born in the barn and her dog was born under the barn. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 11th grade. She attended Texas Tech University and married her husband, Marlin Collins on January 30, 1949. She and Marlin worked together in their businesses, Acoustical Specialties and C & M Roofing. They enjoyed many trips to their property on the Llano River as well as other destinations. Yvonne enjoyed playing the piano and loved being with her family. Everyone who met her loved her.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Collins, her parents, and one sister.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Pam Earnest and her husband, Gerald of Odessa, Cindy Daniels and her husband Homer of Odessa, Dixie Jones and her husband Carl of Spicewood; 7 grandsons, Chad Earnest and Amy Rosenberger, Chris Earnest and wife Kaci, Lance Daniels and wife Lindsey, Blake McElmurry and wife Melissa, Brady McElmurry and wife Tamara, Lucas Daniels and wife Catherine, and Brett McElmurry; great grandchildren, London and Lawson Daniels, Mason, Grace and Emma McElmurry, Flynn and Reese Daniels, Adison Neighbors, Mikaylie Earnest, Madison Bolton and her husband Joe, Kaitlin Rosenberger, Brandi and Braydon Hayes and great granddaughter Paislee Bolton. She is also survived by her sister Jerrie Rodgers.
Yvonne’s family would like to expressly thank all the members of the team at Medical Center Hospital for risking their health during Yvonne’s illness to provide her care and helping the family stay connected with Yvonne during her last days.
Services will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa on Thursday January 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow. Pastor David Newton will be officiating.
