With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Virginia Ortega Alvarez, who went home to be with the Lord on June 13, 2026, at Midland Memorial Hospital, in Midland. Texas. She was 75 years old.

Visitation/Viewing on Thursday June 18, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Crossroads Church in Chapel located at 6901 TX-191 (on the corner on Billy Hext & 191) Odessa, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday June 19th, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens 6801 E.

I-20 BL Odessa, Texas.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home located at 6801 E Business 20, Odessa Texas. Reception will proceed at Crossroads Church.

There is never a good time to say goodbye to someone you love, and no matter how much time we have, we are never truly ready.

Mom was born on September 13, 1950, in Pecos, Texas, to Ylario and Rufina Ortega. She graduated from Pecos High School and spent her life working hard, caring for others, and loving her family. She was married to our father, Alberto Alvarez, for 51 years. Although my dad had passed away, she often shared wonderful memories of him and never forgot her deep love for him.

To us, she was so much more than a wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was our safe place, our comfort, our strength, and our biggest supporter. She was our super mom and our biggest cheerleader. No matter what challenges life brought, Mom was always there with open arms, a listening ear, and unconditional love. She made sure everyone was always okay and helped overcome our obstacles. She used her wisdom to always have the right words and great lessons. She always led by example and taught us about Jesus and loved him. She taught us to trust in the Lord, live with kindness, work hard, pushed us in our education and to help others whenever we could.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart. Mom was very giving. Some of our favorite memories are the simple moments we shared with her was laughing, dancing, shopping, celebrating birthdays, and spending time as a family. She treasured those moments and made each one special. Her love was constant, and her family was always her greatest joy. Mom had a heart of gold and touched the lives of so many people with her generosity and compassion.

Mother enjoyed working at Walmart. She was there for well over 30 years. As with her family she projected her kind spirit and loved her friends. She would often share beautiful stories of her and her friends.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing she is at peace and united with our father. The love, lessons, faith, and strength she gave us will remain with us forever. We will miss her every day, and we are grateful for the blessing of having her as our mother. Her legacy will live on in each of us.

John 16:22 (NIV) “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” “See you later” until we see you again Mom, we love you always and forever.

Preceded in death: her husband: Alberto Alvarez, her father: Ylario Ortega, her mother: Rufina Lujan Ortega, her brothers: Ylario Ortega Jr., Cosme Ortega, her sister: Sandra Ortega Hernandez.

Survivors: her daughters: Michelle Alvarez Dominguez and Melissa Ann Gonzales (Lissa), her sons: Alberto Alvarez Jr. and Michael Alvarez (Lyon). Her grandson: Trinity Ornelas, Christopher Dominguez, Donathan Dominguez, Ronald Dominguez, Her granddaughters: Melanie Gonzales, Alexis Gonzales, Carime Gonzales, Aliyna Gonzales, Marissa Castro and numerous great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Trinity Ornelas, Tristan Brown, Christopher Dominguez, Markus Rubalcado, Luke Castro, and Alexander Perez.
