Victoria Chavez
Marquez
Jun 15, 1940 — Jul 5, 2026
Odessa, Texas
Victoria Chavez Marquez, 86, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 5, 2026. She departed this life surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and a life beautifully lived.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Chavez and Dolores Arellano; her sisters, Lenor Chavez Mancha and Yolanda Elkhatib; her granddaughter, Angela Marquez; and her grandson, Freddie Marquez Jr.
She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 60 years, Francisco Orona Marquez; her children, Frank Marquez Jr., Maria Marquez, Joe Marquez (Sandra), Efrain Marquez (Irma), Jaime Marquez (Sylvia), Elias Marquez, Freddie Marquez (Lucy), and Steve Marquez. Her legacy continues through her 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She is also survived by her sisters, Yvonne Conrad and Mary Jane Kreitter; her brother, Manuel Chavez Jr.; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
Born on June 15, 1940, in Loraine, Texas, Victoria spent her childhood on her father’s ranch alongside her siblings. It was there she met the love of her life, Francisco “Kiko” Marquez. Their story began at a dance when he asked her to be his girlfriend, she said yes, and from that night on, they walked through life side by side. After marrying, they settled in Odessa, Texas, building a life in the North Ranchito community surrounded by family, friends, and neighbors they deeply cherished.
While raising their eight children, Victoria dedicated herself to her family, her faith, and her community. A devoted member of Our Lady of San Juan Catholic Church, she generously shared her time, talents, and kindness with others. She possessed a remarkable gift for creating beautiful floral arrangements and firmly believed that flowers brought warmth, comfort, and beauty into every home.
Her family will forever cherish the memories of holiday gatherings filled with laughter, conversation, and togetherness. They will remember how she made each person feel special, always recalling meaningful details about their lives and making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. She carried herself with grace and elegance, delighting in beautiful jewelry, sparkling treasures, and her signature big hair that became as memorable as her vibrant presence.
Though her earthly journey has come to an end, her memory will forever be a blessing and a source of comfort to the family and friends she leaves behind.
Pallbearers: Marco Marquez, Joseph Marquez, Anthony Marquez, Eric Marquez, Mason Salinas, Nicholas Cadena, Ryan Martinez
