Thomas "Tom" Ray Zeigler

Thomas R. Zeigler, 84, of Midland, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025 in Sweetwater, TX.

Visitation will be 5:30-7:30pm, Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, TX.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, December 4, 2025 with the Reverend Dillon Ferguson of First Presbyterian Midland, officiating. Tom will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, which is also the burial place of his parents, grandparents, and several other relatives.

Tom was born in Midland on November 6, 1941, because there was no public hospital in Odessa. He was raised in Odessa, graduating from Odessa High School in 1960. He attended Baylor University in Waco, graduating with a BBA in Accounting in 1964. He practiced as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the Midland-Odessa area for most of his life, having held the CPA designation in Texas for over 50 years, as well as New Mexico, Virginia, and North Carolina. He lived for brief periods in other locations, but always returned home to the Midland-Odessa area. He was also a member of Odessa Rotary for over 25 years and served as an officer.

Tom’s Christian faith was central throughout his life, from childhood at First Baptist Church Odessa to later membership in both First Presbyterian Midland and Myers Park United Methodist in Charlotte, NC. He loved music and sang in the church choir wherever he lived during his younger years. He was an accomplished pianist and organist, with a particular fondness for Praise and Worship music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas H. Zeigler and Annie Jewel (White) Zeigler.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Mary (Daniel), David (Josette), and Catherine (Mark), grandchildren: Daniel (Bianca), Mingo, Jacquel, Paul, Julian, Ez, Jacob, and Luke, and great-grandchildren: Nina and Amicia.
