Shirley Faye Brunette age 75 of Odessa, Texas passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born in Odessa, Texas to Jim Cox and Verla Cox on January 1, 1950. She attended Odessa High School. She married David Brunette on March 18, 1967. They had five children who she adored. Shirley was a beautician for many years and loved working at House of Beauty. She then went on to earn her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse at Medical Center Hospital and Head Start for over twenty years lovingly calling all those children her babies.

Shirley loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them all. She also had many hobbies including bowling, sewing, crocheting, pottery, cooking, QVC, and amazon shopping, and loved sharing them with her family. Her favorite vacations were going to Colorado to gamble at Blackhawk with her husband and her brother Glenn and her sister-in-law Betty Cox.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Jim Cox and Verla Lay, her two brothers Glenn Cox, and Jim Cox, one sister Beverly Ann Cox and her Son David Shane Brunette.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 58 years David Brunette; a Sister Shirrie Myers, two sisters-in-law Betty Cox of Colorado and Linda Cox of Arkansas; two daughters Shaye Lane and husband Shawn, Samantha Stark and husband Bobby; two sons Deric Brunette and wife Angie, Cody Brunette and wife Allison; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren all of Odessa, Texas and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley will be deeply missed by all who were loved by her and all who loved her.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Stark, Deric Brunette, Cody Brunette, Shawn Lane, David Charles Brunette, Dayton Brunette, DeMarkus Brunette, Mauricio Vaughn

The family of Shirley wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Pastor Renee Phillips, Jamie Tisdale who was really Shirley’s first child, Shirrie Myers who was Shirley’s best friend and sister, dear neighbors Gloria, Jose and Esmeralda Renteria, Lonnie and Vanessa Vaughn, River of Hope Church, Life Unlimited Church, Life House Fellowship Church, Interim Hospice, Christine Busby, Hailey Hatcher, Rhonda White and so many others that we can’t even name them all. Thank you for making this journey easier.

Visitation will be Wednesday July 16, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Renee Phillips of River of Hope will be officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are made by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral
