Shelly was born on January 17, 1963, in Odessa, Texas, to her loving parents, Verle C. Sr. and Charlene Pearce. On April 7, 1983, she married the love of her life, Darrell Eugene Pope, in Odessa, where they began building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. In 2022, they moved to Krum, Texas, to be closer to their children. As a follower of Christ, Shelly has now found her eternal home in Heaven.
Nothing brought Shelly greater joy than spending time with family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to her children, Nathan and Vanessa, and the cherished "YaYa" to her beloved granddaughter Rozlyn and her many nieces and nephews. Shelly took pride in her children's accomplishments. Their determination and success inspired her to finish a lifelong goal of higher education, and in 2015, she earned her Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science. Throughout her career, she served in a variety of roles, always finding fulfillment in helping others and giving back to her community. In retirement, her greatest joy was caring for Rozlyn, creating precious memories that will be treasured forever.
Above all else, Shelly's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She loved the Lord wholeheartedly and lived out her faith through her actions each day. She was known for her unwavering loyalty, honesty, kindness, compassion, and generosity. She welcomed everyone with warmth and grace, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Shelly's love, gentle spirit, and steadfast faith will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and joyfully reunited with those who trust in Christ.

Her memory lives on through her husband, Darrell Pope; son, Nathan Pope & wife Shannon; daughter, Vanessa Gonzales & husband Austin; granddaughter, Rozlyn Gonzales; her sister, Tina Roberts & husband Jaroy; her brothers, Verle C. Pearce Jr.; Buddy Pearce & wife Jori; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
