Sharon Elizabeth (Hammond) Omachel, 69, of Michigan, passed away on Thursday September 17, 2026, in Odessa, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday October 9, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church Odessa with Pastor Erik Stadler of Redeemer Lutheran Church Odessa, officiating.

Arrangements are by Sunset Funeral Home.

Sharon Elizabeth Omachel was born in Bay City, Michigan to Tolan and Doris Hammond on June 27, 1957. She married David Omachel on September 30, 1978, in Odessa, Texas. After graduating from Odessa College, she found her passion for helping children learn, grow and develop as a Teacher and Director of Odessa College’s Children Center, where she spent 19 years. Her patience, kindness, and dedication left a lasting impression on the many children and families she served. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren with her whole heart, and her presence brought comfort, strength, and love to all those fortunate enough to know her. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void. Though she is no longer here, her faith, her love, her strength, and the lessons she taught will live on through her family. Her legacy is found in the lives she touched and, in the people, she helped shape.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Bud and Doris Hammond, her husband David Omachel, Mother-in-Law Frances Omachel, Father-in-law Nick Omachel, Sister in Law’s Carrie Omachel Briley and Rosemarie Omachel Miller.

Sharon is survived by her children: Brenda Terry (Chris), Sandy Steen (Mason), Kevin Omachel (Brooke), Jackie Vestal (Freddy), and Dylan Omachel (Harlie); her siblings: Jim Hammond (Lora), Karon Jurgemeyer (Bill), and Jon Hammond (Miriam); Grandchildren, Brooklyn and Hayden Terry, Kason Steen, Mason and Leighton Omachel, McKinley, Grayson and Hunter Vestal and Kyle, Addy and Abby Omachel. She is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
