Sam Lee Jones

Sam Jones, 91, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, in Odessa, Texas at Medical Center Hospital. He was born December 24, 1932, in Dalhart, Texas to Walter Jones and Myrtle Walter Jones. 

Sam Jones married the love of his life, Claudia Chapman in 1954. They were together for 60 years before her passing in 2015. Sam served in the Army for 3 years during the Korean war. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 59 years and served as a Deacon at Midessa Heights Baptist Church for 10 years. He was a self-appointed maintenance man for the church.

Sam Jones is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Claudia Chapman Jones, his parents and 5 siblings. 

Sam is survived by daughters, Marsha and husband Charley Horstman, and  Tina Crawford, all from Odessa, Texas; 2 grandsons, Michael Molder and wife Rachel from Maryland, Aaron Crawford from El Paso, TX; and 4 great grandchildren all  from Maryland; and honorable daughter, Farah Coston and husband Mike Coston also from Odessa.

A visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with a burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home of Odessa.
