Ruby Lee Gray, 80 of Odessa died Friday, February 8, 2008 at Hospice House. She was born June 25, 1927 in Fort Worth, Texas to Jesse and Ovie Marie Gifford Clark. The family moved to Odessa in the early 1930s. Ruby is a graduate of Odessa High School and attended Texas Tech University. She married her high school sweetheart Zane Gray in Odessa on November 5, 1945. She worked as a secretary for Odessa City Hall and Bailey Griffith Firestone in the 1960s. After retirement the Grays lived a brief time in Leakey and Brownwood always maintaining a residence in Odessa. Mrs. Gray was a professional artist in landscapes and flowers. Ruby was a member of Vine Street Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Ovie Marie, her infant daughter and a sister Betty Jean Barr.
Survivors include her husband Zane Gray and her daughters Linda Mealer and husband Preston of Dickinson, TX. and Karen Johnston and husband Darrell of Odessa. Grandchildren Brandon Mealer and wife Nycol, Matt Mealer and wife Marti, Kelly Marshall, Jodi Marshall, Teena Martel and husband Damien, and Kathy Hughes and husband Loyd. Great-Grandchildren Loghan, Presley, Cayden, Trace, Sydney, Dalton, and Tyler. Her brother Jesse Clark, Jr. of Odessa and sister Jaxie Norwood of Lubbock.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 11, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Touchtone of Vine Street Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
