Ronnie Weaver

September 18, 1944 — December 8, 2022

Odessa

Ronnie Wayne Weaver was born September 18, 1944, to Jack and Viella Weaver in Dallas, Texas. On Thursday, December 8, 2022, he passed suddenly from this life to walk among the Kingdom of Heaven.

Ron and his siblings grew up all over West Texas as his father chased work in the oilfields and attended at least a dozen schools throughout his life. During and after high school, he worked a series of odd jobs including operating a wheat combine and working on drilling rigs.

In 1963 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as a radar operator at Giebelstadt Army Airfield in West Germany. After spending his life almost exclusively in West Texas he eagerly explored West Germany, Spain, and other European nations while on leave.  He also enrolled in photography courses, a hobby which followed him throughout his life.

Shortly after returning home from the Airforce, he met a young lady whom he had been exchanging letters with, Beth Florence. In the blink of an eye, they were hitched and living in Dallas where Ron was employed machining aircraft parts at LTV. In 1968 their first child, Wendi, was born, followed in 1970 by her sister Kimberly. Ron adored his wife and girls and devoted his life to caring for them.

While employed at American Lenders Service Company, a repossession agency, he was eventually able to purchase the rights to his own franchise. He spent the better part of forty years running a branch in Odessa, along with another in Hobbs, New Mexico. As with everything Ron did, he fully devoted himself to his business, and was afforded a fair degree of success because of this.

A man of many passions, Ron cultivated numerous talents and hobbies throughout his life. Chief among them was competitive shooting of every imaginable discipline. He was a pillar of not only the local shooting sports community but was also well known and involved in several national events. He was notably forthcoming with his knowledge and experience to novice shooters. Of course, his favorite pastime of all was to be with his countless friends and loving family members. Ron was a member of the Optimist Club for many years and served as 2003-2004 President of the Odessa chapter. He was a man with very strong principles and character, of a quality not often encountered in our world. He weathered life’s numerous trials with grit and indomitable strength.

Ron’s legacy is survived by his wife, Beth; daughter, Wendi and her husband Curtis Miller. Along with his sister, Liz Nugent, and husband Ronnie; his grandchildren, Justin, Nichole, Aaron, Jordan, Jace, and his girlfriend Brea. Ron will also be fondly remembered by his great grandchildren, Jaylen, Jonah, Rayme, and Ethan Miller, along with his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Weaver, parents, Jack and Viella Weaver, brothers Billy Weaver, and James Weaver, and nephew Roger Weaver.
