Robert Luera, Sr, 62, of Odessa passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born October 3, 1945, in Westbrook Texas to Pete and Olivia Luera. He was a heavy equipment operator since the age of 17. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his faithful dog Roxie. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Felipa Loe Luera of Odessa; his sons Robert Luera, Jr wife Margaret; Abel Luera and wife Melissa; Albert Luera and wife Candy all of Odessa; mother Olivia Luera of Colorado City, Tx; grandchildren: Chelsey Luera Knight and husband Alfred, Stefani Koonce and husband Josh, Erica Machuca and husband Chris,Rick Smith, Morghan Hernandez and husband Chris, Scotty Luera, Eden Luna, Christopher Luna, AJ Luera, Kaiki Luera, Alisa Luera, Gabriella Gutierrez, and Abigail Gutierrez; great-grandchildren Robert Seth Lee Lynn, Jasmine Koonce and Josh Koonce II. He also leaves behind beloved brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Edna, his twin-brother, Ruben Luera and his father Pete Luera Sr. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him. GOD saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered come to me. With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away, although we loved him dearly we could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating - hard working hands at rest, GOD broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 5, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
