Renato “Rene” Fabia passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, surrounded by his loving family in Odessa, Texas.

Renato “Rene” Fabia was born November 26, 1954, in Binmaley, Pangasinan, Philippines, to Juanito and Ursula Fabia. He went to Baguio City National High School and continued to University of the Cordilleras. He married his wife, Ruth Marie Fabia on October 27, 1985, in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines, where they eventually raised their children.

In 2007, he moved to Odessa, Texas, with his family. He loved basketball, traveling, and music. He played the guitar. He worked as a customer representative at PLDT. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3203 and a volunteer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He is remembered for the way he loved to share his happiness. He never kept it for himself, he always felt joy should be shared. He was loved by many and will be remembered for his kindness, hospitality, and humility. The love he modeled for his family was unconditional and knew no bounds. He always had a smile on his face and treated everyone with equal respect, warmth, and gentleness.

Renato is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Edna.

Rene is survived by his lovely wife of 36 years, Ruth Marie Fabia; his children, Francis Fabia and wife, Janelle Fabia, Ervin Fabia, Renty Brito and husband, Angel Brito, Kathleen Abrigo and husband, Jansen Abrigo, and Krishlene Fabia; grandchildren, Natasha Fabia, Cedric Abrigo, and a little surprise Brito; and siblings Juanito Jr., Noel, Robert, Dan, and Rowena.

The Pallbearers will be Francis Fabia, Ervin Fabia, Jansen Abrigo, Angel Brito, Jingson Morales, Armand Cruz, Rob Pineda, and Argin Covero.

His family would like to extend a sincere thanks to his Primary Care Provider and good friend, Dr. Jose Benigno and his wife, Gigi Benigno, the team of first responders, Dr. Khavar Dar, all the intensivists at MCH, his neurologist Dr. Abdul Kadir, and the nursing staff and respiratory therapists at Medical Center Hospital.

Viewing will be from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 26, through Friday, July 29, 2022, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

A Recitation of the Rosary will follow Friday, July 29, 2002, at 6:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial is offered on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Bernadito Getigan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Krishlene Fabia.
