Raul Matta

The Family of Raul Matta announce with deep sorrow that our beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Raul was born on November 8, 1955, in Pecos TX.

He was a United States Army Veteran. He was very proud of serving during the Vietnam era. Raul also served in the National Guard. He worked in the electrical sector with 40 years of experience. He was currently employed with The Bergaila Companies as an Inspector. He enjoyed his work, was a very hard worker who devoted his skills and talents to his projects. He made many friends with co-workers and vendors that became like family to him. Raul was also a lifelong Catholic.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Yolanda R. Matta of Odessa; sister, Eloisa Casias of Odessa; brother, Ray Matta of Odessa; sister, Rosa Abila of Abilene, and brother, Rolando Matta of El Cajon, CA; his daughter, Amanda Treviño and son-in-law, Vale Treviño of Midland; his son, Joshua R. Matta of Odessa; and grandchildren, Kalyssa Castillo of Odessa/San Marcos, and Valentino Pio Treviño of Midland.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Jr. and Felipa Matta; and by his beloved grandparents, who raised him, Juan Sr. and Epigmenia Matta; brothers, Manuel Garcia, Manuel Matta, Pablo M. Matta, Paz Matta, Hector Matta Sr., Ruben Matta, and Roger Matta; and sisters, Maria Regino, Paula Ornelas, Cruz Pisana, Sister Martha Ann, Mary Dutchover, Virginia Ramirez, and Yolanda Ramirez.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a rosary following at 6:00 p.m. The visitation will be held in the Chapel of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home (6801 E. Business 20 | Odessa, TX 79762).

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Pecos, TX at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.
