Raquel Montoya Rivas

Raquel Rivas, 54, of Odessa TX, Passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

 The Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating. The burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Raquel was born in Kermit, Texas to Jesus Jose Chavez and Manuela Montoya Chavez on January 27, 1971. She attended Kermit High School. She married Robert Rivas on February 1st, 1997. She worked at Lowes Pharmacy before she transitioned to a Pharmacy Technician for Pharmacy Unlimited for 22 years. She was very involved with the Catholic church as a lector and eucharistic minister. Her faith and trust in the Lord were unwavering even during her diagnosis, her faith in the Lord stood strong never questioning his plan for her.

Raquel is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Jose Chavez and Manuela Montoya Chavez. Alongside her paternal grandparents, Juan Jose and Luisa Chavez; and maternal grandparents, Ismael and Eusebia Montoya.

Raquel is survived by her husband, Robert Rivas; daughter, Karime Robbins and her husband, Caleb Robbins; her son, Marcos Rivas and his fiancé Abigail Miranda; sisters, Juana (Valentin) Saenz- Hobbs, NM, Gloria (Cosme) Arzate- Odessa, TX, Lupe Martinez- Hobbs, NM, Blanca (Humberto) Sandoval- Pecos, TX, Amparo (Arturo) Gonzalez- Kermit, TX; brother, Ismael (Sadie) Chavez- Odessa, TX; and grandchildren, Mia Robbins (5) and Ian Robbins (2).

The pallbearers will be Jacob Saenz, Justin Martinez, Arturo Jr. Gonzalez, Ismael Chavez, Roy Ramos, Adriel Rivas.

Memorials may be given to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
