Rance Paul Carnes,71,of Rual Texas psssed away peacefully January 2nd, 2026 7:20pm surrounded by his family.
Rance was larger than life- full of humor, wisdom, and heart. He was the kind of man who made everyone feel welcome, who believed in hard work, loyalty, and the importance of family. He was the life of every gathering, always quick with a joke or story that brought smiles to those around him. Anyone who met Rance couldn’t help but love him. His sense of humor and genuineness left lasting impressions on all who knew him. He could always be counted on for a good laugh, a helping hand, and a story that somehow grew funnier each time he told it.
He taught us the value of friendship, the joy of simple things, and that life is best lived with love and laughter. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, and joy that will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
Rance was born on February 21st, 1954 in Haskel, TX to R.P. & Jimmie Carnes. He grew up with strong family values, a love for dogs and an unshakeable sense of humor. He went to school in Odessa Tx graduating at Permian high School and graduated with an associates from Odessa College. He married Cynthia Looney in 1979 married for 13 years having 3 children & divorcing in 1992.
Rance spent his career in construction with his dad for 10 years before finding his gift in sales where he spent the remaining part of his life, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang, Odessa Shriners, and The Masons.
Rance will be remembered for his big personality, his loyalty to friends and family, and his ability to light up every room he entered.
He is preceded in death by R.P. Carnes, Jimmie Carnes, Connie Bingham, & Malerie Carnes.
He is survived by his sister Sharon Massy, two children Keesha Franco, Rusty Carnes, 4 grandchildren Dominic,Capone, & Aniya DelValle, Ryker Carnes and countless friends who loved him dearly.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday January 12th at 1:00pm at Sunset Memorial services with Pastor Clydel Chapman officiating. And a viewing will be Sunday January 11th from 1:00 - 5:00pm.
