Ramon Chavez

Ramon J Chavez passed away peacefully Sunday, January 30, 2022, in Odessa, Texas at the age of 87.

Ramon is survived by his spouse, Petra Chavez; children, Robert (Aracely), Ramon (Nancy), Raul (Maria), Roy (Lisa), Ricky (Lucy), and Rosemary Chavez, as well as multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ramon is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Luisa and his siblings, Merita Carrasco, Rafaela Lopez, Mercedes Baeza, and Ruben Chavez.

Ramon was born on the September 20, 1934, in San Antonio Del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Juan Chavez and Luisa Jurado. He married Petra Martinez on December 8, 1952, with 69 years of marriage.

Ramon was proud of his family and their accomplishment was working together for so many years. He was a   dedicated individual who loved telling people about Jesus and how He changed his life and who was passionate about his fruit trees and his goats. He was an active and dedicated member of the Iglesia Bautista Jerusalem.

A family gathering will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa Texas, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 3 PM-7 PM with an hour of memories beginning at 6:00 PM. A celebration of life is scheduled for Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 12:00 PM, at First Baptist Odessa, with a reception to follow. Reverend Dr. Byron McWilliams will be officiating. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ramon's life.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in leu of flowers may be sent to Door of Hope Mission, Permian Basin Mission Center, or Permian Basin Rehab Center. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers for their care and dedication.
