Peggy Mcwilliams

Peggy Jean (Phillips) McWilliams, 94, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at The Broadmoor at Creekside in The Woodlands.

Visitation will be from 10:00AM to 12:00PM, Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 6801 E. Hwy 80, Odessa TX  79762.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home with the Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating.

Peggy was born in Celeste, Texas, on January 12, 1929, to Roy Manley and Faye Myrtle (Ross) Phillips.  She went to school in Greenville, Texas, and graduated from Greenville High School.  Peggy married James (Jim) Samuel McWilliams on July 26, 1946, in Greenville.  Prior to her retirement, she worked as the Office Manager at Levi Strauss and Company in Hobbs, New Mexico.  Peggy was extremely talented as a seamstress having learned to sew as a child using her grandmother’s pedal-style sewing machine.  She was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Odessa.  She enjoyed painting, cross stitch and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jim McWilliams, of Odessa; her grandson, James “Jay” Edward Chaney III, of Midland, Texas; her mother, Faye Phillips, of Odessa, and father, Roy Phillips, of Greenville; and her brother, Roy Doyce Phillips, of Denver, Colorado.

Peggy is survived by her son, Ronnie McWilliams and wife, Faye, of Amarillo; her daughter, Vickie Shenk, and husband, Steve, of The Woodlands; four grandchildren, Bryan McWilliams and wife, Melissa, of Amarillo; Kevin McWilliams and wife, Stacey, of Fort Worth; Kimberley Bollinger and husband, Scott, of Plano, Texas; and Sarah Langenstein and husband, Sven, of Farmington, Michigan; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Bryan McWilliams, Kevin McWilliams, and Scott Bollinger, CPL Jahred James Chaney, and Emma McWilliams.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
