O’Rion Glen Callendar’s story began in Odessa, Texas, on September 19, 2006, and, much too soon, found its final page on September 24, 2025. Yet those nineteen years between the first line and the last held more imagination, kindness, and laughter than many long lives ever do.
A memorial service celebrating O’Rion’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on October 20th at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Born to Courtney and Justin, O’Rion was a son of great brilliance — thoughtful, inquisitive, and full of a rare gentleness. He graduated from Odessa Collegiate Academy, where he earned both his high school diploma and his associate degree, and was continuing his education at UTPB, pursuing a bachelor’s in English. He also worked as a tutor, patiently helping others find their voice through words.
O’Rion was, above all, a writer. From the age of fourteen, he devoted himself to a novel that became both a dream and a reflection of his spirit. Though unfinished, those who loved him know his story is one that will still be told.
He was happiest surrounded by friends — talking, laughing, and imagining worlds bigger than this one. His laughter could fill a room, and his words left a mark on every soul, lucky enough to meet him.
O’Rion is survived by his mother, Courtney Ellis, and stepfather, Austin Ellis; his father, Justin Callendar; his siblings, Gavin, Ara Belle, Charles, and Sonya; his godmother, Ara Tisha Ross; his grandmother, Sigrid Garrett; his aunt, Carroll Morgan; and many dear friends who loved him like family.
Though his chapters here were brief, O’Rion’s story doesn’t end with the closing of a book. It continues — in every word he wrote, every friend he inspired, and every life he made brighter just by being in it.
