Omega Daphine Goforth Bailey went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 22, 2026.Daphine was born December 12,1946 in Gorman, Texas and was the only child of Odis A. and Eara (Bitty) Westmoreland Goforth. She moved to Notrees, Texas shortly after birth to live in the Shell camp where her father worked. She later relocated to Odessa, Texas.She attended school at Notrees and Ross Elementary. While attending Crockett Jr. High, she started in band and obtained her first life goal of playing drums. The first year Hood Junior High opened, she remained in band and obtained her second goal of being a majorette. She remained in band while at Permian High School and graduated mid-term her senior year in the class of 1965.
She met Walt A. Bailey in September 1965. Walt was the only blind date she ever went on. They married on June 10, 1966 in Odessa, Texas. From this marriage, they had two sons, Tracy and Stacy.
Later she attended Odessa College and Texas Tech. While at Odessa College, she reached her third life goal and became a registered nurse. Following this achievement, she worked in med-surg, nursery, and labor and delivery. She also worked home health. In her final 22 years of nursing, she worked as a hospice nurse. She loved working in hospice and helping families get through their journey.
She and her family enjoyed camping, fishing and playdays with their horses. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and various crafts. She and Walt enjoyed watching the boys play football. She loved family, animals, raising horses, breeding Shar Pei dogs, watching Stacy racing, Christmas, and cooking.
She had two grand-daughters Brittany and Katy. She and Walt loved to watch the girls play soccer. As they grew, she was present at Brittany's cheerleading and dance and Katy's softball at Permian. Both granddaughters followed her by both becoming nurses like their Mamaw.
Daphine gave her life to Christ at an early age at Greenfield Acres Baptist Church in Odessa. She was a Baptist and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist.
Daphine was preceded in death by her father, Odis Goforth, her mother, Eara Goforth, husband, Walt Bailey, and son Tracy Bailey.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Stacy Bailey and wife Amy of Odessa, two grandchildren Brittany Bailey and fiancé Chase of Cottonwood Shores, Katy Bailey and fiancé Vidalia of Odessa, and Danny Neighbors of Odessa whom she loved as a son.
Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 6-8pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, June 26, 2026 at 10am at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Unruh of Stonegate Odessa officiating. The family extends gratitude for all the love and support.
