Obituary

Nancy Ruth Hinkle passed from this life on July 25, 2026, into the arms of Jesus. She was a long-time member of Kingston Avenue Baptist Church. Nancy was born on January 17, 1941, to Jewel Atkins Gunter in Memphis, TN, growing up on a farm outside of Clarksville, TN, before moving to Madison, TN.

In the spring of 1958, she met her best friend, Leslie Hinkle, and married him in June1959, after graduating from Madison High School. They soon moved to West Texas and were privileged to have been together for 55 years, and blessed with one son, Craig Hinkle. She worked for the Southland Corp (7-Eleven stores office), Gulf/Chevron, and Whiting Petroleum.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Les Hinkle, in July 2014. She is survived by their son, Craig Hinkle, of Odessa, TX; special cousins, Robbie Varble and family of Clarksville, TN, Frank Gunter and family of Brentwood, TN; several other cousins, sisters-in-law, Joann Dunlap and family of Nitro, WV, Lynn Miles and family of Webster Springs, WV; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in the chapel of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services will be conducted by Pastor Mike Atkins, on July 30, 2026, at 10:00AM.
