Mozelle Sibley Potter died on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Odessa, TX. She was 95 years old. Born in 1928, the youngest of seven brothers and sisters, she was lovingly known to the family as “Jackie”. A nickname given to her by her brothers when she was a little girl. Born in Commerce, Texas, she attended school in Cumby and Commerce, Texas.
In 1949, she married A. J. Potter, a photographer from Pecos, Texas, New Mexico and Colorado taking pictures and providing countless memories to people through photographs. A.J. and Jackie had many adventures and made lifelong friends. They participated in community and social events in and around the Pecos area for over 45 years. Jackie and A.J. were members of the First Presbyterian Church for many years as well.
Jackie was an avid bridge player throughout her life. She also enjoyed bingo, dominoes and all sorts of games. She loved Las Vegas and traveled there many times with family and friends. She was also well known for her sewing and crafts. She made handmade items including crocheted angels and quilted baby blankets, often creating her own patterns and designs to give to her family and friends. She was kind, generous, loving and fun. She loved to laugh and had a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.
Jackie is preceded in death by her husband A.J. Potter and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Carla Potter Nelson and husband Mike Nelson of Odessa, TX; grandsons, Doug Nelson and Scott Nelson; great grandson, Tyler Scott Nelson. She adored her grandsons and great grandsons with much love.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, TX.
A private burial will be held at a later date in Pecos.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in memory of Jackie Potter can be made to a charity of your own choice.
