Michael Kole Osburn, 17, of Goldsmith, Tx passed away on August 2, 2025.
Michael was born on January 25, 2008, in Odessa, Texas, to Michael and Amber Osburn. He attended Compass Academy Charter School, where he played both cornerback and outside linebacker, earning admiration and friendships with many of his classmates.
Michael accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and Savior as a young man and stood strong in his salvation. He attended Community Bible Church of Odessa, Texas.
If you didn’t know better, you would have thought Michael’s sole purpose in life was to drive his parents insane: growing into a fearless, hot headed and stubborn young man that would test any parents’ patience. Beneath his tough guy persona; Michael was a sweet, loving and compassionate young man that was also ornery and lived for practical jokes but couldn’t take it when the tables were turned.
His upbringing consisted of competitions with dad over who would outperform each other in basketball, wrestling and a good heated game of madden. Time spent with mom consisted of roasting each other, many heart-to-heart conversations and endless shenanigans. Michael also took his role as a big brother very seriously but pestered them to his heart’s content.
Michael was fearless and adrenaline driven; he may have stopped for a quick second to assess the situation but inevitably just dove right on in. He wanted to ensure he lived his life to the fullest and not waste a single moment of his time while here on earth. His biggest motto was “You only live once”. His energy, zest for life, and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Michael was particular about maintaining a clean-cut appearance and the need to “get swole bro”. His mortal enemy was his receding hairline; with much effort and denial he attempted to prevent its ultimate fate.
Michael spent many hours seeking counsel from his Mimi and Pa about the hardships of life and how he should press forward. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a very strong work ethic. He was very passionate about seeking his independence and success in life. His goal was to quickly jump start his future and build a career with high enough pay so that he could work less and retire by the ripe age of 30. He mostly spoke of becoming an Underwater Welder, Tower Climber or an Electrician.
Michael had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowboarding, tubing, and especially cherished time spent at the ranch, the beach, the lake, and traveling with friends and family.
