Megan Nicole Johnson

October 30, 1981 — March 23, 2026

In Loving Memory of Megan Nicole Johnson *October 30, 1981 - March 23, 2026*

Megan Nicole Johnson, affectionately known as "Coach J," concluded her earthly race on March 23, 2026, surrounded by the boundless love of those she cherished. Born in Midland, Texas, on October 30, 1981, her vibrant spirit and compassionate heart illuminated the lives of everyone around her.

A dedicated teacher and coach, Megan possessed an extraordinary gift for nurturing young minds and inspiring them to strive for greatness. With an unapologetic zest for life, she embraced each moment, weaving joy and encouragement into her classroom and the fields where she guided her beloved students. Her ability to make each individual feel special was a testament to her kind soul.

As an unwavering force of support, she immersed herself in every project and endeavor, rallying those around her to create unforgettable moments. From spirited homecoming celebrations to the thrill of competition on the field, Megan was always in the heart of the action, tirelessly ensuring that everyone felt included and valued.

Megan's life was a vibrant tapestry, woven with the love of her husband, Ray Johnson, her treasured sons, Jordan Williams, Kobe Johnson, and Max Vera and her cherished family. She is survived by her beloved parents, Bill Vallie and his wife, Tammy Martin, Cheryl Vallie-Porter and her husband, Leland; her siblings, Billy Vallie Jr. and Penny English; as well as lifelong friends Kristin Williams (Clarence), Tiffany Bradshaw (Chris), Laura Sterling (Nick), and Lena K. Davis (Mark). She leaves behind many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews who will forever hold her memory close.

Megan's legacy will ripple through the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her—the family she created and the friends she uplifted, all of whom she welcomed into her world as beloved kin.

As we gather to honor her life, funeral services will be held on March 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Fairmont Park Church of Christ where we will celebrate Megan’s spirit and the indelible mark she has left on our lives. A public viewing for those wishing to pay their respects will take place at Lee High School Auditorium on March 27, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Following these heartfelt ceremonies, Megan’s earthly remains will be lovingly cremated.

In Megan's own words, we are reminded, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7) Though she may have crossed the finish line, her spirit will forever inspire us to live life fully and embrace each moment with love.

Megan could never let a student go without school supplies or a backpack. So in lieu of flowers, Megan would love for you to purchase a backpack for a student instead and add supplies if you can. Please bring the backpack to the visitation at Lee High School or to the service at Fairmont Park Church of Christ. Or drop off the backpack at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home

The family would like to express our thanks to the team at MD Anderson who helped Megan through her last journey, your love and support are truly appreciated. And to the sisters who stood with her, cried with her, and loved her you will never know how much we love and appreciate you.
