Maudie Winn, affectionately known as granny by all who loved her, passed away in Hobbs, NM on April 4th, 2026.
She was born on October 21st, 1945, in O’Donnell Texas to John Johnson and Vera Cook Johnson. She attended school in O’Donnell, Texas. In 1972 she moved with her family to Hobbs, NM where she continued her education at the New Mexico Junior College. There she got her first degree in Cosmetology, and later in photography. She was an avid photographer, and she developed and processed her own film. She was a woman with many talents. She studied and learned drafting and worked as a draftsman for King Surveying for 13 years. She set her sights on owning her own business and in 1991 she started her carpet cleaning business, A-Plus Carpet Cleaning. She was well known and loved in her community. She always greeted everyone with a big smile and a kiss on the cheek. She never met a stranger.
She married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Winn on October 6th, 1999, in Odessa, Tx. They moved to Odessa Tx. and spent most of their married life there, until 2022 when they moved back to Hobbs, NM to be close to their family.
Maudie loved cooking, her grandkids, and spending time with her family. She never missed a Holiday or a birthday celebration. She was a very strong willed and determined woman, and her strength pushed her through the last 5 years of her life battling cancer. She always put on a brave face and never complained. She was a devout Christian and her passion for life was immense.
She will be dearly missed, and she will live on in all our hearts.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; Her husband, Robert (Bob) Winn; 2 brothers, Jimmy Johnson and Eddie Johnson; 2 sisters, Joy Bollin and Mary Uzzle; 3 sons, David Whitaker, Randy Whitaker, and Jeff Winn; grandchildren, Meagan Whitaker and Wridge Whitaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Neicie McAdams (David); God daughter Ronda Easter; God son Ronnie Harcrow (Kadee); Grandchildren, Kaylee Murk (James),Kenzie Amaya (David), Chris McAdams, Payten Welch (JD), Dustin Whitaker and Illiana Mares as well as 27 other grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Johnson; two sisters, Jane Dillard and Iris Harry; a very special nephew Van Harry, along with Gaila Lemons, Tristy Browning, Donade Lopez, Jode Johnson, Roger Crain, Rachael Prichard and numerous other nieces and nephews.
