Martha C. Hulsey finished her earthly journey on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the age of 87 years old in the comfort of her home, in Odessa Tx. She is now reunited with her husband, Dewey W. Hulsey & daughter, Deborah L. Hulsey.
Martha is preceded in death by her entire family and now joins them in joyful reunion.
Martha was born in Brown County, Tx, to Eva Francis Hoover and Soba J. Eaton on December 23,1935. She was the 9th child of 12 children. She graduated high school from Early High in Brownwood Tx.
Martha married Dewey W. Hulsey in 1955 in Brownwood Tx. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Deborah Lynne Hulsey on Sept 28,1958. She attended Sul Ross College graduated with an elementary education degree and continued taking classes to be certified as a special education teacher. She was the President of the Odessa Teachers Association. She was elected along with her lifelong friend Berna May as a state elected delegate with the Odessa Teacher Association and served her time well. She also served at the West Odessa Food Bank faithfully twice a week. Martha had 3 loves, 1st her love and faith in her Savior Jesus Christ 2nd her family and friends, and 3rd she loved the children she taught. Martha had many hobbies, she loved to sew for herself and others. She had a love for square dancing with her husband Dewey.
Martha loved turtles and had a turtle garden at her home, and she also enjoyed collecting turtle figurines that she could use to decorate her home.
Martha retired after many years of teaching and kept busy by volunteering at the art museum and globe theater in Odessa Tx. During this time, she also enjoyed the many adventures of traveling and going on cruises with some of her closest friends and family. Martha will always be known for her love and caring heart for others, especially her brothers! She blessed the lives of all who she came in contact with and was loved by all that knew her. She may be gone from this earthly life and back in Jesus Christs arms, but she will never be forgotten and will be forever missed!
Funeral services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM, in the chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
