Marion Lee Stone

November 11, 1948 — April 28, 2025

Odessa

Marion “Lee” Stone, passed away at the age of 76 on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Medical Center Hospital after a tough battle with a lengthy illness.

Lee was born on November 11, 1948, in Gonzales, Texas to Clarence and Dorothy Stone. Lee grew up in the Sinclair Oil camps in Wyoming, Kansas and Pampa, Texas before settling in Midland in 1961 where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1967. Lee went to work for the Kramer family at Engine Service and Supply as a delivery boy before enlisting in the United States Navy. When he returned from his duties, he went back to work for Engine Service and Supply until he retired as Vice President in 2020 after over 50 years with the company.

Lee met Linda Fuhrman at Lee High School in 1966. She wrote him letters and sent care packages to him during his time in the service. He even proposed to Linda from Vietnam. Lee and Linda were married October 4, 1969. They spent their 55 years of marriage raising their 2 children, Stephanie and Michael, in Odessa.

Lee enlisted in the United States Navy in June of 1967 where he served his country along with the Marines running river boats on the DMZ. He served one tour in Vietnam and was headed for his second tour when President Nixon called the troops home. Lee proudly wore his Vietnam Veteran hat wherever he went and ended every text message with an American flag. Not only did he bleed red, white and blue, but he was also a die hard Dallas Cowboy, Texas Rangers, Texas Longhorns and Permian Panthers fan. Later in life he became a begrudging Texas Aggie fan in support of his grandchildren. He enjoyed trips to the ranch for hunting, fellowship with his Cajun friends and riding around in his ATV. Lee was happy spending time at Lake Kemp and Lake Alan Henry fishing with the kids and grandkids. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Lee is preceded in death by his father, Clarence “Stoney” Stone; mother, Dorothy Stone; father-in-law, A.G. “Cowboy” Fuhrman; mother-in-law, Betty Fuhrman; and grandson, Micheal Layton Stone.

Lee is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Stone; daughter, Stephanie Whitworth and husband Daryl; son, Micheal Stone and wife Kelli; grandchildren, Delaney Whitworth, Derek Whitworth, Aubrey Stone; sister, Jean Jones; as well as numerous friends and coworkers.

Pallbearers will be Dwaine Cox, Clint Kuhlmann, Jerry Partridge, Micheal Stone, Daryl Whitworth and Derek Whitworth.
