Maria Elena “Nena” Lozoya

Maria Lozoya, lovingly known as “Nena,” was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on September 29, 2025, at the age of 63.

She was born on August 6, 1962, in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, to María Elena Castañeda and Jesús Castañeda. Maria grew up in a large and loving family with her siblings: Jesús Manuel Castañeda, Rocío Leyva, Manuela Zubia, Ivonne Castañeda, and Francisco Castañeda.

Maria was a strong, hardworking woman whose greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children: Jesús Enrique Lozoya, José Luis Lozoya, Lucero Velásquez, and Jessica Castañeda. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Karen Guzmán, Brenda Guzmán, Brizzia Guzmán, Andrew Lozoya, Demian Guzmán, Madison Lozoya, Elizabeth Lozoya, Nohemí Lozoya, Angélica Lozoya, Natalie Galindo, Armando Velásquez, Ashley Velásquez, Jesús Velásquez, Cheyenne Rentería, Nova Castañeda, and Grace Castañeda.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesús Castañeda; her mother, María Elena Castañeda; her brother, Jesús Manuel Castañeda; and her grandson, Osvaldo Chevy Rentería.

Maria will be remembered for her love of travel, her sweet tooth for Red Hots, Oranges, Peeps, and Coke, and her enjoyment of crime shows, Discovery ID, and The Golden Girls. Above all, she will be cherished for the way she loved her children and grandchildren deeply and wholeheartedly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow after services at Sunset Memorial Gardens. 6801 E Hwy 80, Odessa, Texas 79762.

Pallbearers will be: Brizzia Guzmán, Andrew Lozoya, Natalie Galindo, Armando Velásquez, Jesús Velásquez, Cheyenne Rentería, and Nova Castañeda.

Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
