Maria Elena Flores Guevara, 68, of Odessa, passed away on December 4, 2020 in Odessa, Texas.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:00 AM, Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Father Joe Uecker officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Maria Elena was born in Monahans, Texas to Manuel and Elpidia Flores on July 14, 1952.  She attended school in Odessa.  She married Javier Guevara on January 6, 1966, for 54 wonderful years.  They lived in Odessa, Texas.  She worked as a custodian for 40 years at Westminster Presbyterian Church.  She was a fun, joyful, and loving person who enjoyed helping people. She was passionate about cooking, shopping and spending time with family. She served at St. Joseph´s Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister.  She taught baptism and catechism classes and was a member of Mother Mary Teresa of Calcutta for 15 years.  She also volunteered at Meals on Wheels for 5 years.  She sponsored many organizations including St. Jude´s Hospital.

Maria Elena is preceded in death by her son, Elias Guevara; her father, Manuel Flores; and her in-laws, Goyo and Paula Guevara.

Maria Elena is survived by her husband, Javier Guevara; daughters, Imelda Loya, Norma and Luis Solis, Joanna and Elvis Ivaan Rios, all of Odessa; brothers, Daniel and Yolanda Flores of Dumas, Texas, Ruben and Delia Flores, Patrick and Connie Flores, and Steven and Nancy Flores, all of Odessa, Texas.  She is also survived by her mother, Elpidia Flores of Odessa; 12 grandchildren, Jolie Dionne Guevara, Elias Javier Guevara, Jonnie Tere Guevara of Oklahoma City, Ok, Jeffrey Ryan Guevara, Mariah Nicole Loya, of Odessa, Madeline Kaylee Solis, Aiden Micheal Solis, Avaline Maria Solis, of Midland, Texas, Martin Jr. and Candace Lopez, Matthew Jerrimiah Lopez, Miranda Julissa Lopez, and Elvis Ivaan Rios, all of Odessa, Texas; 8 great grandchildren, Santiago Elias Sanchez, Graciella Esperanza, and Lucero Jasmine Sanchez, Angelina Annabelle Ramirez, Santino Miguel Ramirez, and Isabella Rose Ramirez, all of of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and 2 great granddaughters, Isabel Lanette Lopez and Layla Elizabeth Lopez of Odessa.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Ryan Guevara, Martin Jr.  Lopez, Matthew Jerrimiah Lopez, Elvis Ivaan Rios, Auden Lujan, and Ruben Jr. Guevara.
