Lyndon "Lyn" Domsten

May 11, 1964 — July 26, 2025

Odessa

Lyndon Domsten, 61, of Odessa, Texas, went home peacefully in his sleep to the arms of Jesus on July 26, 2025, and was joyfully reunited with his beloved daughter, Alissa, after nearly 20 years apart. We can only imagine the huge hug she gave him before excitedly leading him on an unforgettable tour of Heaven.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, at Life Unlimited Church in Odessa, Texas, with Pastor Kris Bartley officiating.

Lyn was born on May 11, 1964, in Baker, Montana, to Marlin and Ruth Domsten. In 1965, the family moved to Plentywood, Montana, where Lyn graduated from high school. It was there that he met the love of his life, Beth. They attended Trinity Bible College together and were married on May 25, 1986, in Plentywood. Together, they raised two cherished daughters, Tessa and Alissa, in Odessa, Texas.

Lyn’s passion for education began early. After three years at Trinity Bible College, he transferred to St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College), graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. That same summer, Lyn, Beth, and baby Tessa moved to Odessa, where he began a 30-year career with the Ector County Independent School District.

He taught grades 1, 2, and 5 for a decade, mentoring student teachers and shaping young lives. For the next 20 years, he served as an Instructional Technology Specialist, training educators, introducing innovative teaching tools, and leading district-wide technology integration. He earned certifications from Microsoft, SMART Technologies, Google, and Texas A&M University, and even organized Camp SIP (Scholars in Progress) for gifted students. Though Lyn retired in 2019 from ECISD, his love for teaching drew him back. He taught elementary school in Midland ISD for a year and then became a high school substitute for ECISD from 2020 to 2025. Lyn was a teacher who went above and beyond, arriving early every day to pray over each student’s desk, a testament to his deep dedication to their spiritual, as well as academic development.

Faith was the foundation of Lyn’s life. As a teenager, he gave his life to Christ during summer Bible camp and lived every day with unwavering devotion to his Savior. His favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Lyn was a man of many interests: geocaching, golfing, gardening, landscaping, drone videography, and woodworking. He took great pleasure in designing and building three unique beds for his precious granddaughters, Brileyann and Tori, leaving a tangible legacy of his love and craftsmanship. He also enjoyed constructing a charming outdoor playhouse for his youngest granddaughter, Tori. Lyn loved walks with Beth, time at the ranch with Tessa and Blake, teaching his granddaughters to make rhubarb pie and Swedish tea ring, and spending time with family playing board games and cards. Lyn cherished the time spent working alongside his daughter, Tessa, on various projects. His family was his greatest treasure.

Lyn was not only a loving and devoted husband but also his wife’s best friend and steadfast partner in their shared ministries. He found great joy ministering together. Service was his heartbeat. He volunteered for many years at the Ronald McDonald Family Room, cooked monthly breakfasts for Mission Messiah, ministered through the Healing Rooms of the Permian Basin, and participated in prison tent revivals. His greatest joy came from mission work in Africa. After dreaming of it for 27 years, he and Beth made their first trip to Malawi in 2012, returning three more times as well as two impactful journeys to Mozambique, Africa. Together, Lyn and Beth founded Everything In Christ Ministries, bringing clean water, housing, and the hope of the Gospel to widows, orphans, and entire communities. Lyn’s time in Malawi and Mozambique left a lasting impact—both on the people he served and on his own heart.

Lyn was known for his integrity, humility, generosity, and servant leadership. He was always willing to help anyone without hesitation or expectation of recognition. An Eagle Scout, he approached every project with hard work, prayer, and determination. He loved teaching children’s church, leading after-school Bible clubs, and finding creative ways to make learning fun. Lyn was an active member of Life Unlimited Church and served as an Elder for many years. His deep love for God’s Word led him to memorize entire chapters of the Bible. He faithfully shared communion with Beth each morning, cherishing the reminder of all Jesus accomplished for us.

In November 2023, Lyn was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Through many months of treatment, he never complained, remaining positive and steadfast in faith. His smile, encouraging words, and trust in God inspired all who knew him.

Lyn is survived by his wife, Beth; daughter Tessa (Blake) Lisenbe; granddaughters Brileyann and Tori Lisenbe; brothers Lonnie Domsten and Landon (RaeLynn) Domsten; as well as extended family and countless friends.

Lyn was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Marlin and Ruth Domsten; Delbert Melby; and his daughter, Alissa.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to everythinginchristministries.org, a cause close to Lyn’s heart.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to his doctors, home hospice team, church family, and friends for their love, prayers, and support.

Lyn’s presence will be dearly missed, but his faith, service, and love for others will live on in every life he touched. In his honor, the family invites you to bring a favorite memory or funny story to share—because Lyn would have wanted more laughter than tears.
